Bruce Nichols - M.D., Medical Director
TRAINING: Dr. Nichols received his Medical Degree (MD) from McMaster University in 1980 after completion of an Honours Biology Degree at the University of Waterloo. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Saskatchewan after a two year residency in Family Medicine at The University of Western Ontario. He then trained with a world leader in LASIK surgery undertaking a Fellowship in Cataract and Refractive Surgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Nichols is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
REFRACTIVE SURGERY EXPERIENCE: In practice since 1987, Dr. Nichols has performed 20,000 refractive surgical procedures to date. These include PRK, LASIK, and Intraocular lens implants. His Excimer Laser experience dates from 1995 using a variety of laser platforms including VISX, Bausch and Lomb Technolas, Autonomous LADAR Vision and Sunrise.
MEMBERSHIPS: Dr. Nichols is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at The University of Western Ontario and is the Head of the Cornea and External Disease Unit. He is a faculty member at The Ivey Institute of Ophthalmology, St. Joseph's Health Center in London specializing in Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Nichols is the President of The Canadian Cataract and Refractive Surgery Society and a member of The International Society of Refractive Surgery. Other memberships include The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, The Canadian Ophthalmological Society, and The American Academy of Ophthalmology.
AWARDS: Dr. Nichols received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award in 1999 for his teaching and dedication within that society. He received the E.A. Baker Fellowship; is a Melvin Jones Fellow of the Lion's Clubs International and is a Canadian National Research Council Scholar.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:Dr. Nichols has given over 130 scientific presentations and provides training to surgeons and Eye Doctors at conferences across North America. He is widely published in peer reviewed journals and is well known as an invited guest speaker at medical meetings at home and abroad.
PERSONAL:Dr. Nichols is an instrument rated private pilot and flies for enjoyment and business to destinations across North America and the Caribbean.
Shilpa Patil, BSc, O.D., Clinical Director

Dr. Patil is one of the Clinical Directors of TLC London and is herself a LASIK patient.
EDUCATION/TRAINING: Dr. Patil received her Doctor of Optometry degree with honours from the University of Waterloo in 2004, where she also earned an honours Bachelors of Science degree in biology. Her optometric education was enhanced by having the opportunity to organize several eye care missions to Nepal, India and Jamaica. After graduation Dr. Patil gained extensive clinical experience by training alongside several renowned ophthalmologists and by working as a primary care optometrist.
MEMBERSHIPS/AFFILIATIONS: Dr. Patil is a member of the CAO (Canadian Association of Optometrists) and the OAO (Ontario Association of Optometrists) and is also currently working in a full scope private practice in London.
Dr. Patil understands the importance of providing quality patient care, with an emphasis on patient education. When she is not in the office, Dr. Patil enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with her growing family.
Tim Wilbee, O.D., Co-Clinical Director

EDUCATION/TRAINING: Dr Wilbee received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2002. Prior to his optometry education, he studied chemistry at the University of Western Ontario. While at Waterloo, Dr. Wilbee further enhanced his medical education through the completion of an internship at Omni Eye Specialists in Baltimore, MD.
MEMBERSHIPS/AFFILIATIONS: Dr. Wilbee is a member of the CAO (Canadian Association of Optometrists) and the OAO (Ontario Association of Optometrists) and currently sits on the Ethics Committee at the COO (College of Optometrists of Ontario).
HONOURS/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: As a part of TLCs continuing education seminars, Dr. Wilbee has lectured and provided training to the local optometric community regarding all facets of laser vision correction. Dr. Wilbee also works in a full scope multi-doctor practice in London.
