Robert C. Arffa, - Medical Director

Dr. Robert Arffa is the Medical Director for TLC Laser Eye Centers in Pittsburgh. He is a very skilled and experienced corneal surgeon specializing in laser vision correction and cataract surgery. He graduated from Cornell University in 1975 and received his Doctorate of Medicine in 1979 from the University of Connecticut. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Indiana University in 1984 and his fellowship in Cornea and External Disease at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans in 1986.

Dr. Robert Arffa is Board Certified and specializes in medical and surgical eye care. He has proudly served the Pittsburgh community since 1986. He has extensive experience in the most advanced cataract surgery techniques, and has been involved with refractive surgery since 1984. He has been performing laser vision correction with the excimer laser at TLC Pittsburgh since 1996. In addition to his position as Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Arffa has held the title of Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Allegheny University since 1991 and is Medical Director for Medical Eye Bank of Western Pennsylvania. He has authored a widely used textbook on diseases of the cornea, and numerous research articles and reviews. Dr. Arffa was selected by his peers as one of the "Best Doctors in America", in the two most recent surveys. Dr. Arffa has performed more than 20,000 procedures.

Edward Wygonik, OD - Clinical Director

Dr. Wygonik serves as Clinical Director for TLC Pittsburgh. He earned his undergraduate degree from Duquesne University and his doctoral degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry where he graduated with honors. He is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa an international optometric honor society. Dr. Wygonik also holds memberships with the American Optometric Association, Pennsylvania Optometric Association and the Western PA Optometric Society. Before joining TLC Dr. Wygonik practiced primary care optometry in the local area and has participated in research involving color vision, eye movements, and contact lenses and solutions.
